Kristin Diable

Legitimately one of the most exciting singer/songwriters to come out of New Orleans in a long time, Kristin Diable has crafted a soulful and sophisticated sound all her own.

Don’t Be Afraid of Rock & Roll

Make no bones about, I'm incredibly proud of my pals The Breton Sound on their upcoming EP release, "Don't Be Afraid of Rock & Roll". The title of their 3rd release (dropping May 19th) couldn't be any more apt. It's bold, sophisticated, melodic, heartfelt, and it's a true rock & fucking roll release.

Cristina Perez — #NolaSweetestThing

Local New Orleans Jazz & Contemporary singer/songwriter Cristina Perez's style has been referred to as "sultry, smooth that is part Ella Fitzgerald, part Norah Jones". Being included in such company certainly denotes some serious chops. A true renaissance performer, Cristina's range extends through all disciplines including acting, dance, and her most prolific, singing.

Bantam Foxes — Without Me

Our pals and local 3-piece indie powerhouse Bantam Foxes have been hard at work on their brand new forthcoming EP "Give Us a Raise". Fronted by the McCabe twins and backed by drummer/percussionist Jared Marcell, Bantam Foxes are ready to release into the wild their first single, "Without Me" with us!

Abby Diamond

I'm pretty sure the first time I heard Abby Diamond sing was from a late night Facebook session. Of course, if I remember correctly.

#THISISNOLA – Nov. 2014

In it's first 2 months, #ThisIsNola has hit the ground running in their passionate promotion of New Orleans. I hated to miss the inaugural event last month and was bound and determined to make it to last week's show at The Joy Theater. Below you'll find their mission statement and based on what I experienced last week, they are certainly delivering in a big way. The momentum is building steadily as each month's roster is announced.

Cardinal Sons – The Echo Choir

I can't imagine there being any more symbolism involved in The Cardinal Sons' latest EP release, The Echo Choir. As I sat down and spun their most recently dropped disc, I began to realize just how aptly formed the title was. Take a look at the it closely and hopefully when you give it a listen, you'll see and hear all the signs. Before you go out purchase and subsequently cue it up, let me describe a few as a bit of a tease.

SPOON at The Civic

We've been huge fans of Austin's own Spoon for quite some time now. "Gimme Fiction" was their gateway album for most, but it's their stellar "Girls Can Tell" really threw us over the edge. Just this week, we got the chance to catch them at The Civic Theatre downtown and were super impressed.

Maggie Koerner

For our last and final feature of the 2013 calendar year, we wanted to highlight someone who we’re sure will have even more of a breakout year in 2014. Maggie Koerner has recently dropped a tour-de-force and powerful new LP titled "Neutral Ground" as well as becoming the full billed featured artist with Nola supergroup Galactic.

Boyfriend

Enigmatic, clever, and chameleon-like rapper Boyfriend, couldn't be any more fascinating. It's been over a year since she's dropped her extremely slick and well produced video "Yo Tengo Mucho Swag", and Boyfriend has been uploading genre blasting videos and tracks on the regular. Her flow is as diverse as each track and it's lyrics. All tracks and videos are produced by a small team of immensely creative folks and it shows.

The Civic Theatre

As of late, we're seeing a true theatre renaissance in New Orleans. Whether it's the re-opening of The Joy Theatre last year or the storied and historical Saenger revitalized on Canal Street, we're starting to see a shift back the golden age of entertainment and culture in the city.

Robin Barnes – Rescue Me

Robin Barnes is one of the busiest performers around town. Rightfully so, and in the last few years Robin has become a bonafide tour-de-force. All of her hard work & perseverance has paid off in the form of her new ep titled "ME" due out today!

Flow Tribe – Painkiller

The first time I got a chance to witness Flow Tribe was 5 years ago, late at night, at the Maple Leaf. Pretty sure it was a just plain old Thursday, but what I remember from that night was the pure hardcore funk they put on display. Since 2008 they have released several full length records, and with their most recent EP titled "Painkiller", Flow Tribe continues to spread the funk.

The Breton Sound Releases Maps

What a difference a year makes. Since their first release "Eudaemonia" in 2011, The Breton Sound have been named Paste Magazine's "12 Louisiana bands you should listen to" and have fine tuned their arena ready sound with the latest EP release "Maps (or cartography and the art of generalization)".

Elon

In recent years, New Orleans has produced some fantastic musical talent. It's hard to walk into a "bad" show in town these days, and we continue to see artists excel beyond our borders. We are truly stoked to introduce one artist we think will blow up very soon...Elon.

Keith Spera’s Groove Interrupted

I've flirted with writing my whole life. I'll never admit to actually being a writer, and when it comes to this site, the words are always the last things to be added and uploaded. Because the photos on this site take such precedence, the writing sometimes warms up the bench.
