The Bywater, in my opinion exists in rarefied air. Each and every time I walk around one of Nola’s most promising neighborhoods, it occurs to me that there’s something special going on down there. Artists and artisans, musicians, and numerous entrepreneurs are truly making the area into something very unique. One of the coolest spots to open in the Bywater is the coffee shop Solo Espresso (1301 Poland Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117 / 504.408.1377).
Located on Poland avenue, Solo dispenses coffee from some of the most prolific boutique coffee brewers in the country and are currently feature Panther Coffee out of Miami, Fl. It’s true community shop with folks spilling in from the Marigny as well as neighboring 9th Ward. I recommend the silky smooth and rich mocha with made with their in house mocha base. Their iced drinks are served mason jar style, and it could not be more southern. Next time you’re bouncing around the Bywater, stop in and say hello to shopdog Shinobi and grab yourself some fantastic coffee.
