Q&C Hotel/Bar

I was downtown for the weekend mainly because of Boudin, Bourbon, & Beer and for a long time I wanted to stay in the Q&C Hotel/Bar (344 Camp St.).  Located in the CBD, and just blocks away from Champion Square, as well as tons of New Orleans attractions, the Q&C proved to be a perfect home base.

Right off of Camp and Poydras in the heart of the CBD, The Q&C (formerly the Queen & Crescent Hotel), totally exceeded all expectations.

The property is keenly separated into two buildings that both house spacious and comfortable rooms. The main building is where guest services is along with their super comfortable and inviting bar/restaurant.

The second building houses an adult style clubhouse and guest rooms that totally belong in Monocle magazine. The “clubhouse” was filled with plus leather chairs, great art + photography books, and a mini shuffleboard table. It’s actually a brilliant concept and I found myself getting lost in it all. To be honest, it’s one of the first hotels I’ve stayed in where the public spaces have made me think twice about running out the door into the world.

The room itself was full of natural light, plush, and comfortable. I loved the direct USB connections for my phone and iPad, which I prefer over just the plain plug-in for the charger cube.

I had such a great time. The public space in the main building was just as inviting and carried over the same style and substance of the clubhouse. My bar experience was just as good with a great selection of bourbon and of course lots of other options.

The food, including the fantastic beignets had one morning, was a great compliment to the bar and never seemed disconnect from the rest of the property.

All in all, my stay and my weekend proved to be stellar. I could not have asked a better location for my staycation in the CBD period. The Q&C should definitely be on any local or tourist’s short list year around. Just this past weekend I spent a glorious few days camped out in the CBD enjoying a little staycation. The weather was crisp and fantastic.
