It's been a few years since a new property in New Orleans has generated as much buzz and fanfare as the brand new Ace Hotel in the warehouse district. The Portland based Ace is perfectly caring and decisive about the locations for their super eclectic properties, and New Orleans certainly fits their mold to a T.
Careful thought and consideration for the city and the architecture they are inhabiting and rehabilitated can be seen in every nook and cranny of this magical 1920's Art Deco Space. The 234 rooms of the property are well appointed and are aligned with the look and feel of the building. Below you'll find Ace's description of their 9th location.
"Ace Hotel New Orleans sits on the corner of Carondelet and Lafayette streets in the Warehouse District of one of the best cities on Earth. The feel of weft and warp woven together by countless anthropologies and creation stories far too vast for any single person to own. So it belongs to the whole city.
We're close to up-and-coming art galleries and shopping, museums, cocktails and just a jaunt to the classics of the French Quarter and the modernity of the burgeoning South Market District, a stone's throw to many of New Orleans' best gems like the Sports and Arts Districts, and just a bike ride to the lively Bywater and Marigny neighborhoods, as well as mystical nooks and corners you can explore on your own.
The city has an expansive soul that is palpable, self-assured in a way that sustains hope and grit and sadness at once. We're still new, but we love calling NOLA home."
In the last few weeks, I've had drinks at the lobby bar, eaten in it's decadent restaurant Josephine Estelle, had drinks at Alto on the rooftop, and taken in a show at 3 Keys, their music venue, and proceeded to lift off at the latest Stumptown Coffee outpost located beyond the lobby. Suffice it to say, the Ace offers so much to both locals and visitors and has already become the focal point of our own downtown renaissance. Below you'll find more images and information about each facet of the hotel.
Lobby and bar
"Josephine Estelle is an osteria helmed by James Beard Award-nominated chefs Andy Ticer and Michael Hudman — lifelong best friends who hail from just up the mighty Mississippi in Memphis, Tennessee. For their latest culinary opus, Andy and Michael take their wooden spoon to the seasonal, craft-centric philosophy of Italian cuisine, stirring it up with fresh flavors of New Orleans and the American South."
3 KEYS event space
"Three Keys is the intimate music venue inside Ace Hotel New Orleans, a lively social hub with events nearly every night of the week — live jazz, DJs, pop-up shops, salons and creative collaborations of all kinds."
"Stumptown is one of Ace's oldest, dearest friends, and we're happy to have them along for their very first venture south of the Mason-Dixon. Based in Portland, Oregon, Stumptown's committed to sourcing, roasting and brewing the best coffees available anywhere."
